The summer tech help has been working very hard. They have managed to almost completely finish cleaning the insides and updating the software on all elementary and middle school student computers. They have also gotten updates installed on all high school computers. Unfortunately, they have been unable to clean out the high school computers due to the construction, but this is still in the works. The guys have also managed to get all the projectors cleaned out as well. With all this cleaning and updating, we will be off to a good start for this year.
With the help of Sparcc, I have been able to get our new servers installed and begun the process of moving our old servers over to the new. The remainder of this process will happen during the month of July and should be a transparent change to almost everyone. One of the new servers that was installed is a Spyware blocker. It will scan and block most spyware/malware before it ever gets to your computer. One of the nice features of this is that you can also have it scan your computer and remove any existing spyware/malware. While you are at school, simply go to this web site http://spyware.louisville.sparcc.org. This is only for Windows computers, the Macs are not affected by Spyware.

LepApps.org
Many staff and students found the use of LepApps.org to be of great benefit to the educational process this past school year. We will again be using LepApps during the 2010 - 2011 school year. One change will be that we have to redo all the account this summer to tie in with our new servers. If you have any documents saved in LepApps, please be sure to log in and download them to your computer so you have a copy. The current accounts will be deleted the beginning of August.
New Virtual Servers
Along with the help of Sparcc, I have installed 3 new virtual servers and 1 storage set. These new virtual servers will allow us to update and consolidate our old servers. They will also provide the district with plenty of storage space for staff and students. During the month of June, I will be working with Sparcc to configure learn more about the virtual servers so that I can start moving our old servers onto them. I will keep you updated on the progress and on the changes that might affect you.
